Founded in 2001 in the Basque Country (Oiartzun) by the Iraola brothers and his father Pedro, HLC is a vertically-integrated player that manufactures and distributes its own brands such as Jart skateboards, YOW (Your Own Wave) surfskates, Long Island longboards, Iron-trucks; and also distributes licensee brands like PLAN B Skateboards, FLIP Skateboards, Sk8mafia, Mosaic Bearings, SOVRN, Jessup Grip tape on a worldwide level.

The company has strong international presence delivering its products in more than 80 countries worldwide (Spain represents only 14% of its sales).

Peninsula acquired a majority stake alongside the founders of the company, in order to pursue international growth as well as entry into new markets, in particular the US.
